Google Wallet and Android Pay Now Combing Under One Brand | Google Pay

Google Wallet is one of the convenient and easiest way to send money to friends online. It is a good alternative to PayPal. Google Wallet has merged with Android Pay into a single brand, Google Pay.

Google PayGoogle Wallet was first launched in 2011, and at one time supported NFC payments for goods and services. In 2015, the company launched a new service, Android Pay, for online and real-world payments, and Google Wallet became a person-to-person payment system.

Nevertheless, no new updates have been rolled out on the app, only the logo have been changed. So you will be seeing the new universal Google Pay logo when paying for things with Google wallet or Android pay from Google Play Store.
Google Confirmed that Google Pay is currently available at services like Airbnb, Dice, Fandango, HungryHouse, Instacart etc.

To encourage people to try out Google Pay, Google has partnered with some of them for following offers:

  • Get $10 off your B&H order with Google Pay (order $50+)
  • Get $5 off your Fandango tickets with Google Pay
  • Get $10 off your Instacart order with Google Pay (orders $35+)
